Early Halloween Fun

Lately, there have been a lot of beautiful sunsets.  Here is the view from our backyard.

Ryleigh and Dane love to play in the kitchen, and Dane really likes to set up picnics/parties for me and drink tea. (I imagine Grandma Mary plays it a lot with him too.)

Dane is often full of TONS of energy.  Here he is giving me a big hug and nearly pulling me over.

Being goofy for the camera.

On Saturday, we went with the Matt and Angie Willson family to their Grosse Pointe Park for Halloween trick-or-treating. We first went to their house to have a late lunch and then got the children dressed up.  Ryleigh was the cutest little bumble bee I have ever seen.

Alek bought Dane this army outfit on one of his last business trips, so of course, Dane wanted to wear it for Halloween.  Hey, made it easy for me!

There were 40 stations set up, and we walked around the park to each one.  Dane was a little spooked by some of the Halloween decorations, but he definitely had fun!

Sunday, Alek and Dane carved the pumpkin Grandpa Roger and Grandma Pat bought for him and Ryleigh.

Milestones

Ryleigh's latest milestones at 13.5 months:

*Currently has 3 molars coming in at the same time.
*Beginning to understand us very well:  she can do small commands and shakes her head for yes and no
*Can say mama, kitty, poop, nana (banana), down, ya.
*Waves bye, hi, and night-night
*Gives kisses and hugs
*Climbs just about anything she can

Two videos of Ryleigh.  I feel bad that I have tons of videos of Dane, so I am trying to catch up with Ryleigh.

And here is a picture of Dane doing his homework with Alek.  Every Wednesday he has to bring in a picture of something that starts with the letter of the week.  This week is the letter P, so he found a penguin, panda, parrot, puffin, and porcupine.  Thanks Amy and Adam for the Baby Animal magazines!  I am glad I saved them, because they have lots of good pictures for Dane to find his assignments.

Mid October

Alek bought Dane an army suit just like his.  Dane loves it and wants to be it for halloween!

Now that Alek and I are both working, we take turns cooking dinner.  I LOVE it when he cooks, and it is alway sooooo yummy!

Ryleigh can now climb up on chairs ((sigh))

The toy room

Ryleigh giving me a smile when I asked her for one.

The two of them coloring together.

I think she is right handed.

Ha ha, we have Dane do laps in the house to tire him out.  It works too!!!!

Alek playing with the kids. Ryleigh was laughing hysterically until, of course, I turned the camera on.

She is really starting to understand us a lot!

Fall Fun

Alek and I both had the day off today due to Columbus Day, and it was a gorgeous fall day!  We started off by being able to walk Dane to school for the first time.  It was really neat to see him enter his classroom, hang up his coat and start his daily routine.  When we picked him up afterwards, I was sure to peek in to see if he was following directions and being a good listener.  By golly, he certainly was!  He was a perfect little student practicing writing the letter O, and then when he was told to clean up and go to his carpet, he did so very promptly.  I was extremely proud of our little guy!

Grandpa and Grandma Roe bought Dane and Ryleigh this pumpkin.  Thanks mom and dad!  It looks so nice on our front porch!

Ryleigh all bundled up for the walk to school.

After school, Dane had lunch, then a nap, and then we went outside to play in the gorgeous fall weather.

Ryleigh is walking everywhere now and is very fast!

She is pretty good about not eating everything she touches.  I am pleasantly surprised.  Here she found a leaf.

Dane in our jungle of hostas.

Ryleigh loves to play in this car!

I started putting the chairs down in the basement and Dane was pretending to be on a train.  Here Ryleigh and Dane are saying, "Chooo, Chooo!"

Fire Safety

There was fire safety at Grosse Pointe Woods this weekend.  Dane was able to go into a "pretend" smokey building and crawl out of a first floor and climb out of a second floor building. He was also able to handle a fire hose and hose out some pretend fire.  Lots of fun!

My New Camera Pictures

Yay!  I finally got a new camera, so I took lots of pictures yesterday to test it out.  My parents are in town visiting, and we had the Matt Willson clan over yesterday for dinner.  The kids had a lot of fun playing together, especially when it got dark out and they were playing with glow sticks with Abby.  See pictures below in the link.
