Dane's First Dentist Appointment and More

Dane had his first dentist appointment yesterday with Dr. Bender. He did an amazing job and was very well behaved. He listened well and did everything he was told. Made me so proud!

First, Miss Lisa showed Dane her cool blue gloves.  She then showed him every instrument and let him feel them.

Counting his teeth.  Dane said he only had two, but when Miss Lisa counted, she found 10 on top and 10 on bottom!  Wow!  Dane was pretty amused!

Last, she polished his teeth with a chocolate flavor and then flossed.

Finally, Dr. Bender came in and took a look.  He said everything looked great!  Good job Dane!  Keep up the good brushing!

On Memorial Day we went to War Memorial where there was a beautiful ceremony.  I sat way in the back near the water to keep Ryleigh in the shade.   Alek and Dane sat on a blanket with Matt and Angie's family and Mary.
We spend a lot of time in our backyard.  It has a lot of shade and privacy.  So nice!

Trying to get a family photo, but Ryleigh bit me,
and I don't know what Dane is doing, ha ha.
Another shot at it.
This is as good as we could get.

A couple weekends ago, we went to the Detroit Zoo.

Ryleigh was a good girl at he zoo.  She just hung out in the stroller and was happy as can be.   She has a paci here b/c I weaned her off it just before this, but shortly after she started sucking her thumb.  So now I am trying to break that habit and get her back on the paci.  She is pretty good now, but from time to time she puts her thumb in her mouth.

Mother's Day Weekend

Alek had his two week annual training for the National Guard during Mother's Day weekend, so I drove up to the Sault with Dane and Ryleigh. We had a very busy and fun time!

Friday, we went to the circus and Dane was able to ride 5 different rides (one being the ferris wheel with me).  He had a blast and could have stayed there all night.  He also tried cotton candy for the first time.  And boy, what a mess he was able to make with it!

While at the circus, Ryleigh had her first time on a swing (other than her little one at home).  She really liked it too and was giggling and laughing the whole time.

While Dane rode the rides, she sat in her stroller and was such a good little girl!

The next morning, we went to a 5K Fun Run at the Big Bear.  Dane ran his first race called the tot trot and received his first medal.  Yeah!
Dane posing with Elise Proulx - both ready to run!

Proud of his first medal

After Dane's tot trot, Grandma, Dane, Ryleigh and I walked the 5K - Ryleigh's first 5K.  (Dane did it with me when he was 8 months old too.)

Ryleigh having lunch after the race - scrambled eggs, soy dog and noodles.

Sunday morning was Mother's Day.  Great Grandma Edna Roe, Grandma Pat, Grandpa Roger, and the three of us went to church and then to Studebakers for brunch.  Here, Ryleigh is in the church nursery.

Sunday afternoon, after naps, we decided to go swimming at the Park Inn.  Here Ryleigh had just gotten dressed into her swimsuit.

She loved the water and had a blast splashing her hands in it. Grandma kept saying she was a natural and swimming was her calling =)

Dane had a lot of fun jumping into the pool with me catching him.

Then, after swimming, we drove out to the cabin.  Dane saw a bunch of cows, goats, and geese along the way too.  Here he picked a daffodil for me and then ended up using it like a sword to bat at flies (it's the thought that counts though, right).

Woooo weeee,  what a busy last three days we had!  I am pooped now and ready for bed!

Fun Festivities

The past two weekends have been quite busy here with lots of fun festivities! Last weekend, Alek and I went to his cousin's wedding in Grand Blanc, so Grandma Pat and Grandpa Roger took care of Dane and Ryleigh. Everyone had lots of fun - Alek and I finally had a long night out together and grandpa and grandma got to spend quality time with the little ones. This weekend we celebrated Aunt Angie and Grandma Mary's birthdays. Abby made a cheesecake for Mary and Mary made a key lime pie for Angie. Those two pies were the best I have ever had in my life, hands down! Mmmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmmm I just can't get over how good they were!

Alek was a groomsman in John and Jen's wedding.

Bob sent Mary a birthday present from the Marshall Islands - some very comfortable sandles.

Ryleigh was such a good girl during the entire party.   She just sat in the stroller and watched everyone and did not make a peep.

((Heavy Sigh))  Yes, this is my 7 1/2 month old baby eating pizza crust.  She ate two!

The two best pies ever!
