Dane is now 14 months old and is constantly on the move - such a busy, busy boy! Last week I was in the kitchen, and I heard a clinking noise in the living room. I walked out to find Dane standing on the dining room table, poking at the chandelier. I just about had a stroke! So now I am trying to teach him that we don't climb on the table. We are slowly making progress =)
Lately, he really enjoys playing with empty containers and lids and anything he can pull out of cupboards or drawers. (Now the trick is trying to teach him to place everything back into the drawers.) It is very cute though to watch him study the containers and put lids on them or to watch him fill up a container with his toys and then dump them all out.
Alek and Bob worked very hard and made me a beautiful, stone walkway alongside the garage and flower bed. I think it looks stunning and absolutely love it! Thank you so much Alek and Bob!
This past Saturday was the 1437th Homecoming Parade and Award Ceremony. Alek marched the platoon down Ashmun to Brady Park were the ceremony and dinner where then held. It was a beautiful day and everyone really enjoyed the festivities =)
On Sunday, mom, Dane and I went out to Aunt Shirley's and Uncle Al's house to pick pumpkins. Again, it was another gorgeous day, and we got some great pictures of Dane trying to pick out his pumpkin. Thanks Aunt Shirley and Uncle Al!
The other night after I gave Dane a bath, I decided I was sick of his bangs going straight across his forward and decided to try to feather them a bit. So, I gave him his paci (so he would sit still for me) and plopped him in his highchair. I then began to get to work. Well, I ended up making them shorter than I wanted, and I couldn't seem to get the feathered look. Instead they just looked much, much shorter and still went straight across his forehead. Moments later, Alek came home and took one look at Dane and asked me what I had done to our son. He said Dane looked like one of the actors off of the movie Dumb and Dumber. Alek suggested we just trim all of Dane's hair with his beard and mustache trimmer and put it on the highest setting. I thought it was a good idea, thinking it would leave his hair about 1/4 inch long. Boy, was I wrong! As soon as Alek did the first swipe across Dane's head, I nearly almost started to cry! I couldn't believe how short it was, but there was no going back now. I then had to get the video camera to document how very sorry I was =(
