My Growing Belly

Alright, here are some pictures, but you can barely tell right now. I also had the flu this week and lost a couple of pounds, but I am sure I will quickly put it back on. School was actually closed Thursday and Friday because we had so many students absent and we needed to disinfect the school.

11 weeks

Today I am 11 weeks, and I have gained about 5 pounds. My pants are starting to get tight around the waist, and I can no longer button them up comfortably. The other day I wore my fat pants (you know we all have a pair or two), and it was soooo much more comfortable! Ahhhhh! Looks like I am going to start wearing them more often.

I am also starting to get my energy back. Weeks 5-9 were absolutely terrible! I was so exhausted that I would go to bed around 6pm, and I could not get any house work done. One time in gym class we were playing with the parachute, and I was so tired that I couldn't even flap the darn thing! I felt like such a wimp! Thanks goodness I am starting to feel better! Alek and I went to the gym the other day and it sure felt good to actually do something.

Other than the tiredness, I haven't had any other problems like morning sickness or mood swings (at least I think so, but Alek might differ on that opinion) :-)

We go back for our next doctor appointment on February 18th to hear the heartbeat, and maybe I can talk the doctor into giving me an ultra sound to determine the sex. We'll keep you posted.

The baby is a little curled up in these photos, and I wish I had the one where it is spread eagel. On top, from left to right you see the baby's head, hands, body and feet (the knees are bunched up). The bottom picture is just of the head, body, and hands.

If you double click on the picture, it should get larger. Sorry it is a little fuzzy.

We're having a baby!!!!!

Yes, we're having a baby! Alek and I decided to start trying in October, thinking it would be difficult for me to get pregnant due to my endometriosis and being on the depo shot for 12 years, but I got pregnant in the end of November! Yeah! We found out on Dec. 8th, so I knew not to drink while in Jamaica. I am so very excited, especially because I was under the impression that it was going to be extremely difficult for me to get pregnant and possibly even be sterile.

Today, at 10 1/2 weeks, we had a doctor's appointment to hear the baby's heartbeat. However, we could not pick up a heartbeat, so the doctor decided to do an ultrasound. It was miraculous! We saw the baby laying on it's back. We saw the head, arms, body, heart, legs, and feet! It was such a beautiful sight!!!! And then, the baby suddenly wailed it's arms and legs and bounced over on it's side. Yes!!!! I couldn't believe that I just saw my baby move! I never will forget that unbelievable feeling of being in awe! The doctor got a really good picture of the baby laying on it's back, but he kept that one. The pictures that I have are of the baby on a side angle so you can't see it as well, but I will post them tomorrow once I scan them. Oh, and we were looking hard to see if it was a boy, but it was too soon to tell. We are scheduled to find out what the sex is in the end of March, and I can hardly wait!

Getting used to married life

Well, Alek and I have been married for a couple weeks now. He was out of town the past few days on army business and he brought me home a blue t-shirt that says, "Army Wife" on it. Ha, ha, I love it! I am starting to get used to signing my name as Holly Willson and used to the kids calling me Mrs. Willson. Most of my students are doing really well with my name change, but a few forget (and so do I), so we remind each other. Oh, I also had one little kindergartner who was really upset that I was getting married, but we had a long talk and he seems to being doing just fine :-) I think that is so cute !!!

Stay tuned for next week, as we will have exciting news to share!
